Social Anxiety Disorder -
Non-Prescription Treatment

Is there any non-prescription drug for social anxiety disorder?

Anxiety Question:

I think I may have social anxiety disorder.

I have a huge problem going to doctors and being in social situations.

I don't have time to get a prescription before I need to calm down for something; is there any non-prescription drug that will calm me?

Anxiety Answer:

It does seem like you have a condition called social anxiety disorder.

It is where people do not like to go into crowds and try to avoid them, leading to a lot of avoidance behaviors.

Unfortunately apart from anxiety prescription drugs, there seems to be only behavior modification that can calm you down.

Such behavior therapy involves exposure therapy, where you will be led into social situations and be encouraged to interact with people in general and avoid going into avoidance behaviors.
