Social Anxiety Disorder - Bipolar Disorder

Can severe social anxiety disorder lead to bipolar disorder?

Anxiety Question:

Can severe social anxiety disorder lead to bipolar disorder or even mild schizophrenia?

Anxiety Answer:

Not directly.

It is the stress that can bring these things out.

Fear doesn't cause bipolar or schizophrenia.

Just like social anxiety disorder doesn't necessarily make you turn into an alcoholic. But it can bring these things out if you were already prone to them.

Build On Past Successes

"We know our character is determined by our experiences. More precisely, it is determined by our memories of days gone by. Think about the time you passed some stressful exam, got the job you were after, and most of all, the times you thought you might lose yourself to a panic attack, but maintained composure and succeeded. These past successes are what enable us to have confidence in how we will handle the future."

From the book titled "Panic Away" by Joe Barry.
