Singulair or Flovent Cause Child Anxiety

Can Singulair, Flovent or both increase temper tantrums or cause anxiety in children?

Anxiety Question:

Does Singulair, Flovent, or both seem to increase temper tantrums or anxiety in your young child?

My 4-year-old daughter is increasingly screaming, kicking, hitting, talking back, disobeying us, showing outright defiance and disrespect, and the behavior is getting increasingly irrational.

She also has a lot of fears and is almost obsessed with ordering things and will freak out if things are out of place in any way.

Whereas she used to respond well to reason, rewards, incentives, consequences, time outs, etc., NONE of these things seem to work anymore.

Our parenting skills have not changed and actually this is one of the strongest times in our family.

I have been reading that Singulair and possibly Flovent can cause some of these symptoms. What can you tell me? Please help.

Anxiety Answer:

Yeah, Singulair and Flovent do cause some child anxiety.

It makes my son more jittery and on pins and needles but he is a tad bit older so he controls himself better.

Dealing with Anxiety Advice

Don't Worry So Much!

"A recent study by the University of Michigan found that 60% of our fears are unwarranted, 20% have already become past events and are not changeable and 10% are petty and don't make any difference at all. Only about four of the remaining 10% of our fears are real and justifiable and we can't do anything about half of them! So this leaves about 2% of our fears that are really worth thinking about at all. Perhaps we could give ourselves permission to worry only about those things that are really worth it, and let go of the rest!"
