Parent with Separation Anxiety

I have separation anxiety with my two-week-old daughter...

Anxiety Question:

I have a two-week-old daughter and I can’t leave her with even her dad for more than 30 minutes without "missing" her!

I’m not worried when she is with her dad, but I can’t go anywhere without her.

Is separation anxiety normal at this stage? Is it a phase?

Anxiety Answer:

I think some separation anxiety is perfectly normal.

You carried this baby for nine months so I think it's ok to want to be around the baby 24/7.

I was the same way until my daughter was about two months then I was able to go to the movies and leave her at home with her dad. Of course I call about 10 times to check in on her.

It won't last long. Enjoy the time while you have it.

My daughter is now a total daddy's girl so I hardly have her time.

Recharge Your Inner Peace

"Meditation is a time to recharge your store of inner peace. A few times along the way, I have stopped my daily meditation for a week or so. I always go back because its beneficial effects are so noticeable. As soon as I start meditation again my energy levels increase and my tolerance for all those little nagging things in life is back to what I call normal. Without my 'recharge time' the many sources of stress in our busy lives get to me."
