Puppy with Stress and Anxiety
How do I get my puppy to stop having
stress and anxiety in the car?
Anxiety Question:
How do I get my puppy to stop having stress and anxiety in the car? He salivates heavily, and even a short trip to a favorite place like the dog park can culminate in vomiting.
I don't think it is motion sickness, because we've tried medication designed to help with that.
Anxiety Answer:
To alleviate the stress and anxiety, see if you can get another animal to take with you for comfort in the back seat.
Next, you can try teaching the puppy that when it's told to go into the car, it's a happy place. Praise him/her with treats, and don't go anywhere. Just let the pup lay in the back seat for 30 seconds, treats, praise, and out again.
Oh, don't feed them an hour before planning on taking them with you, helps too.
