Prozac and Anxiety

Does Prozac increase the feeling of anxiety?

Anxiety Question:

Does Prozac increase the feeling of anxiety?
I'm feeling better emotionally now that I'm on Prozac and accepted my circumstances. I don't cry or feel despairingly sad, but there's something that's making me worry now.

Within busy places and sometimes when I'm totally alone, I get anxious and jittery. I can get easily agitated.

But when I feel this feeling the most intensely is in the morning. I wake up and it takes a little while to shake the feeling.

Anxiety Answer:

Prozac shouldn't increase anxiety, but with most anti-depressants they take a little time to become effective.

You have to take Prozac for several months and if you have then maybe you’re getting a side effect and should make your doctor aware of your anxiety so they can change, decrease, increase, or maybe add an anti anxiety medication for you.

Dealing with Anxiety Advice

That AWFUL knot in my stomach has gone!

I'm a psychologist and I have been in private practice for more than twenty years. Since early this year, I have been looking for a small house to move my office to, so that I can grow my practice, offer more services to my community and say goodbye to renting. Finally about two months ago I found a suitable house and began the process of buying it, but then the anxiety hit. I was scared of the change! Every morning I awoke with a knot in the pit of my stomach.

After just one week of listening to your "Dissolving Panic and Anxiety" program and printing out the scripts to read every morning, my anxiety, worry and that AWFUL knot in my stomach dissolved and faded away!

I'm due to close on my new office "home" next week and I am so excited about the possibilities! I continue to read your script early every morning, as soon as I get up.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THESE EMPOWERING PROGRAMS!

Sincerely,
Paulette Blais, PA
