Managing Anxiety Disorder

How do you manage anxiety disorder?

Anxiety Question:

How do you manage anxiety disorder?

Anxiety Answer:

I think this may depend on the kind of anxiety disorder and where the anxiety is coming from.

One big key to many types of anxiety is to not let yourself avoid what you're worried about - that way you can face it and learn that it may not be as bad as you thought.

Other good techniques for many different forms of anxiety are changing your negative self-talk and trying some relaxation/ meditation.

Often when people are anxious, the streams of thoughts running through their heads tend to be very negative and fatalistic.

However, you can work on training yourself to identify your negative and anxious thoughts and substitute them with more positive thoughts (A good therapist can also be very helpful with this).

Other forms of stress management like progressive muscle relaxation and prayer/meditation can also help you manage your anxiety disorder better on a day-to-day basis.

Also, be sure you're getting plenty of sleep & exercise and cut down on caffeine intake. High amounts of caffeine can make you significantly more anxious.
