How to Overcome Test Anxiety?
How do I overcome test anxiety and do well on exams?
Anxiety Question:
How do I overcome test anxiety and do well on exams?
Each time I enter a test, I feel ultra confident, and hours before the exam I can do any problem in the book. And when I sit down to take the test, my mind goes blank and I damn near have a panic attack.
This makes it very difficult to do well on tests, regardless of how well I know the material. Do you have any suggestions?
Anxiety Answer:
Test anxiety is also called performance anxiety.
I strongly suggest that you take a course in dealing with performance anxiety from your theater department or music department.
Your university probably offers one. If it does not, go to a psychiatrist for therapy. It is a very real problem for a lot of people.
What you learn to do in such therapy or classes is how to redirect your nervous energy into a focused thought/performance process.
It does take practice to learn, but it also helps to overcome test anxiety and performance anxiety.
