Generalized Anxiety Disorder and Relationships
Because of his Generalized Anxiety Disorder he has difficulty in making decisions.
Anxiety Question:
My boyfriend of two years has Generalized Anxiety Disorder.
Our problem is he has difficulty in making decisions. He takes his medication regularly and he also talks to his therapist.
I know that he loves me and he wants us to be together, but he has difficulty with moving our relationship to the next level.
Does anyone have any advice that they could share with me on GAD and relationships?
Anxiety Answer:
Well, the only advice with Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) and relationships is to make sure that you don't pressure him. Or even make it seem as though you’re pressuring him.
It is hard. Try to be patient. Try to understand that every time he has to make a decision he feels as though it is the biggest decision of his life.
Tell him that if he ever wants - that you will be there and willing to discuss your relationship and its future.
You might consider going to see his therapist with him. That will show him that you are trying to be sympathetic to him and the situations he goes through.
