Anxiety Attacks from Dental Visits
I get anxiety attacks when visiting the dentist...
Anxiety Question:
I get anxiety attacks when visiting the dentist and it feels like my chest is squished. Do you have any tips to relieve the anxiety?
Anxiety Answer:
Yes, phone ahead if you can or have someone do it for you and explain that you get anxiety attacks.
Lorazepam is perfect; hopefully he will give you enough that you can take 1/2 45 minutes before the appointment and the other 1/2 15 minutes before.
Also request they give you nitrous; it can help a lot as well if they have it. If they don't, consider switching to someone who does.
Other tips to relieve anxiety attacks: take headphones with some relaxing music that you like; it really helps when you are in the chair a long time.
If you have a particularly anxious moment, try counting backwards.
