Control Stress and Anxiety

How do I control stress and anxiety while in the horse show ring?

Anxiety Question:

How do I control stress and anxiety while in the horse show ring?

Anxiety Answer:

To control stress and anxiety, think of it as, "no big deal," take your eyes off the prize, and just do what you and your horse are good at.

If you think, "I want the cooler/ halter/ saddle," you'll probably not get it.

Have confidence in yourself and your ride.

Don't compete in classes that are too advanced for you and you'll be able to know that you can do the test ahead with no problem, that will give you confidence.

Take a deep breath before you go into the arena and continue breathing while you perform your test.

Surround Yourself With Positive Thoughts

"Enough of looking at negatives! Let's get some positives in our life right now! Before you go to bed and when you awaken, read something positive. At the end of this book, I've listed some resources that have helped me enormously. Among them are a number of inspirational quotations. Every single morning, without fail, I read a couple of them."
