Who to Contact for Anxiety Help?

I have anxiety and depression - who should I contact?

Anxiety Question:

If I have anxiety and depression, who should I contact?
I never had to deal with doctors before so I am kind of lost.

I am 21 and I have social anxiety disorder with intense panic attacks and depression. I’ve been like this for about three years, and now I have decided to do something about it.

I am a patient at some family clinic in downtown. Should I go there and will they direct me to a psychologist or therapist?

Anxiety Answer:

You really should go to a mental health facility so you can get the right kind of treatment for anxiety and depression.

Your primary care provider probably does not specialize in anti-depressants and such. Sometimes medicine is not the answer.

You should talk to a mental health therapist first and see if anti anxiety medication is right for you and if they think it is, then they will refer you to a psychiatrist in their agency.

People always try to turn to medication first, but all medications have side effects and it is much better if you can have therapy for anxiety and depression rather than rely on medication only.

But sometimes certain people need medication also, which is not a bad thing in any way.

Dealing with Anxiety Advice

Now I can drive and shop on my own!

I was at my wits end when I ordered your CD's. I was having bad panic attacks, couldn't even drive my own car, was stressing over my husband's deteriorating health from osteoporosis and diabetes, had two daughters getting married within 7 weeks of each other - all whilst managing a full time job!

As soon as I started listening to your "Dissolving Panic and Anxiety" CD's, I followed the relaxation techniques, and immediately started to feel something different about myself. After the first month, I was able to drive by myself and go shopping by myself - it was amazing! This program has been a godsend for me!

I now take it on all my trips away from home. I am never without it. As a matter of fact my counselor I have been seeing for several months asked me to borrow it, and she has ordered several from you to use for her other clients.

Thank you so much for the caring and support.
