Causes of Anxiety Disorder

What could have caused my childhood anxiety disorder?

Anxiety Question:

I have an anxiety disorder now and am in my 20's. When I was about 6 or 7 it started. I was terrified of being left in the car alone, I wouldn't go upstairs alone and I'd make someone wait outside the door when I went to the toilet. I was never sexually abused that I know of.

What could have caused this childhood anxiety disorder?

Anxiety Answer:

It could possibly be a severe form of PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder).

Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is an anxiety disorder that a person may develop after experiencing or witnessing an extreme, overwhelming traumatic event during which they felt intense fear, helplessness, or horror.
