Anxiety Disorder Takes Over
Anxiety disorder is taking over. How do I get by with it?
Anxiety Question:
Anxiety disorder is taking over. How do I get by with it?
I am currently unemployed having lost my job about two months ago because I wasn't reappointed for a political position. My husband and I had put a bid on a house. We had to cancel that because of my job. I've had one interview in two months. I have no health insurance. I found a mole on my back that doesn't look quite right. That is worrying me. My youngest son is graduating from high school. I have empty nest syndrome as I have nothing to occupy my time with as my kids were my life. I am struggling just getting up each day. I fear facing the world.
Help! What can I do?
Anxiety Answer:
Get a grip. Tune in Dr Phil. Come to realize what is within your control and what is not.
You are in control of your "feelings" i.e. how you "choose" to feel about things around you.
Virtually everything you mention is out of your control or the further result of that which is out of your control. Worry and anxiety are the fast path to misery. They accomplish nothing and occupy precious time endlessly and needlessly.
Your kids are NOT your life although you have spent a lot of your life readying them for their lives. Now it’s time to enjoy your life. Don't worry they'll still keep coming around with a new sense of how important you were to them and more so as they begin their families and so on.
Read a book. Start a garden. Join a group. Join the other political party. Get up early, embrace the day and your blessings. Eat some chocolate. Buy a sexy outfit. Make a candle light special meal.
Choose to prefer to be happy.
