Anxiety Disorder - Worse in the Morning

Does panic anxiety disorder worse in the morning?

Anxiety Question:

Does anyone with panic anxiety disorder feel worse in the morning than later in the day?

Anxiety Answer:

The time you get anxiety is different for everybody with anxiety disorder. For some, it may not be a time but may be a place or situation.

If you have it worse in the morning it may be because you are thinking about everything you have to do that day and it overwhelms you; or your body has stored up adrenaline throughout the night while you slept and it makes you feel anxious.

Try attacking the specific problem of the morning anxiety; maybe go for a jog after you wake up to use up the adrenaline and release endorphins. Or make a list of things to do so they don't overwhelm you. These are just two possible scenarios.

I believe I can remember a time when my anxiety disorder was worse in the morning, I think it was because all I would think is, "here I go, another day with anxiety..." Whereas at night I would feel fine because I knew I'd be going to sleep soon, and with my anxiety I've always felt 'safe' in my bed, resting.

For people with anxiety disorder, I always recommend counseling, of course I recommend it because it helped me a lot. Learning about yourself, why you think the way you do, what stresses you out, why you have anxiety, can help a lot.

Dealing with Anxiety Advice

I know everything's going to be okay now

I'm so excited to finally write to you. I've been using listening to your "Dissolving Panic and Anxiety" CD's for about seven weeks now 24/7 - literally!

After battling depression and anxiety since childhood, in 2005 everything hit the fan - I lost my job, my relationship ended, I lost my apartment and was homeless for a time. Then late December last year I bought your CD's.
On January 3, 2006 I passed out and banged the back of my head on the tile floor. I suffered a contusion (bleeding in the brain), had extremely low blood pressure and was in a critical condition. I was sent home after one week!

At home, I was in pain and bed ridden, so I decided to listen to your CD's 24/7! Now after seven weeks, I am hopeful, calm, and grateful. I laugh more, I've stopped crying and I feel more at peace. Everything is going to be okay. I even have a goals book now!

Thank you again for doing what you do and for healing so many people world wide!

Sincerely,

T.B.R. California, USA
