Can stress, anxiety and depression cause breathing problems?

Anxiety Question:

Can stress, anxiety and depression cause breathing problems?
If I’m really stressed then my throat and stomach feel like they're closing up.
Is there anything I can do?

Anxiety Answer:

You don't say what is causing the stress but, yes stress, anxiety and depression can all cause breathing problems.

If you don't deal with it now, it will very quickly debilitate you.

Remove yourself from the situation that is stressing you and take deep calming breaths - you will feel better.

Force yourself to think some kind and positive thoughts about yourself or your own ability and don't take any radical action on anything until you've had a decent night's sleep.

Build On Past Successes

"We know our character is determined by our experiences. More precisely, it is determined by our memories of days gone by. Think about the time you passed some stressful exam, got the job you were after, and most of all, the times you thought you might lose yourself to a panic attack, but maintained composure and succeeded. These past successes are what enable us to have confidence in how we will handle the future."

From the book titled "Panic Away" by Joe Barry.
