Anxiety Books for Teens?

My daughter has had, for several years, social anxiety disorder...

Anxiety Question:

My teenage daughter is 14. She has had, for several years, social anxiety disorder with some obsessive compulsive beavior (OCD).

She hasn't wanted to talk to anyone or take any medication.

She did agree on a self-help book. I am looking for anxiety information and books that would be on her level. Any ideas?

Anxiety Answer:

Harriet Lerner has good anxiety information in her books.

My counselor suggested The Dance of Intimacy when I was overcoming anxiety and depression and it has really made a positive impact on my life.

She has many other "Dance" books, including one on Fear (about anxiety) that may be helpful too.

I kept a journal to write things down while I was reading and that helped me too.

Dealing with Anxiety Advice

My fears have greatly lessened!

Before I started listening to your "Dissolving Panic and Anxiety" program, I was in a terrible state not wanting to leave the house. Even going into the local supermarket was an ordeal for me! Having religiously used this program for four months, I find my fears have greatly lessened. I was having sleepless nights worrying about trifles, but now I find life far less daunting and my courage is opening doors for me.

Thanks!
