Help for Anxiety & Panic Attacks

I need help, I have been suffering from
anxiety and panic attacks for five years.

Anxiety Question:

I need help, I have been suffering from anxiety and panic attacks for five years. It’s so bad I can’t go to work.

I went to see the doctor and couldn’t get help, I spoke to family but my mom told me I was a pathetic attention seeker and lazy, I spoke to my boss and friends but they couldn’t help and are now avoiding me because all I do is cry.

Now I don’t want to live anymore, I can’t feel happy, I get drunk every night and sleep around; anything to stop me from thinking about my anxiety.

Anxiety Answer:

First, stop self-medicating your anxiety and panic attacks with alcohol.

Second, if the first doctor didn't offer help for anxiety and panic attacks, see another doctor and get on some anti-depressants.

Third, see a therapist/counselor immediately. Just like doctors, you may have to burn through a few of them until you find someone that you like talking to and seems to help you with your anxiety and panic attacks.

Fourth, you have strength in you that you don't even know you have and you can deal with anything – even anxiety and panic attacks - but you shouldn't try to do it alone. I feel badly for you that you don't have a supportive mother, but it sounds like she has her own issues and what you need is to get help for YOU. Some people are just toxic and you may need to stay away from her if she is calling you pathetic - until you're strong enough to deal with it - knowing that it's her calling herself those things - it really has nothing to do with you.

Fifth - If you have a plan in mind about how you're going to commit suicide, then forget the other steps and go right to the emergency room. You may have a chemical imbalance that is causing you to think differently than you normally would. Everyone has a hard time once in a while, but it sounds like you've been suffering for a long time. Please do not end your life - a lot of people have gone through anxiety and panic attacks just like what you're going through and you just need a chance and some help.
