Anxiety and Depression - Too Much Sleep

Having anxiety and depression -
is there such a thing as too much sleep?

Anxiety Question:

My friend is being treated for anxiety and depression. Is there such a thing as too much sleep?

Sometimes he can't settle down and sleep for 2-3 days.
At other times he sleeps for 11-15 hours, for several weeks until he's hyper again.

Anxiety Answer:

People tend to have fairly regular daily waking - sleeping patterns but these can be disrupted by outside stressors like anxiety and depression.

Poor rhythms are usually a symptom rather than an initial cause of problems, so it might be related to the anxiety that they are feeling.

Aside from this down sides are associated with being in bed for such a long time such as poor posture, aches and sores.

I'm becoming a more positive person!

I just wanted to thank you for all the great messages in your "Dissolving Panic and Anxiety" CD. They are all so inspiring and motivating, and I listen every night to dissolve my worry habits and become a more positive person. I also know that it not only helps me, but it also affects the people that I come into contact with everyday.

When I start trying to live a better life, the people around me will take notice and hopefully it will influence them to do better as well.

Thanks again so much, and God bless you all.
