Are Anxiety and Depression Hereditary?

Can anxiety and depression be hereditary?

Anxiety Question:

My two brothers and I all have anxiety and depression.
My dad suffered from depression for 15 years and so did his brother.
And what can you do about it? Are medications going to help?

Anxiety Answer:

Yes, anxiety and depression can be hereditary.

I have serious panic and anxiety disorder and my doctor told me two things are going on: I suffer post traumatic stress from major deaths in my family (murder and such) but he feels the main cause is genetic as my mom also had it.

I have sisters who also have it, and yes medication will help.

I’m on Zoloft and Valium as needed and I don’t have any spells of it unless something real bad has happened.

Dealing with Anxiety Advice

My life keeps getting better and better!

Where do I begin??? I own all of your programs pretty much, but I think it was curiosity that sold me on the first program - "Dissolving Panic and Anxiety". I knew from education and my own studies the power of affirmations and repetition. I would wake up in the morning feeling different. My life got better and better, so I bought more programs!

Today I'm happy all the time, I smile more, I believe I can make a positive impact in any situation, I've lost weight, I've joined a gym and enjoy my yoga class. I am happy with my life and I don't know what more any program could do. When I tell people how I listen every night, they seem skeptical, but people were skeptical of the telephone and television too at one time!

Thank you!
