Anti Anxiety Medication - What Works?
Has anyone taken any specific anti anxiety medications that have helped?
Anxiety Question:
I have anxiety, depression, and delusions; anyone ever dropped a gum wrapper and thought it could kill?
I tend to blow many things out of proportion and blame myself for things that have not happened, etc. A cop walks by and I think I've committed a crime. If I drop a cigarette on the ground in a cement parking lot, my mind tells me I still could have started a forest fire three blocks away.
Everyone I talk to tries to put me on anti anxiety medications without really even listening to the issue, especially my PCP and a few shrinks.
Has anyone taken any specific anti anxiety medications that have helped with this?
Anxiety Answer:
I had similar problems back in 1998.
Turning light switches on and off several times until they clicked just right because I was afraid of an electrical fire. Checking every ashtray in every room in my house 9 or 10 times to be sure all cigarettes were out, even in rooms I hadn't been in for days. I was afraid to drive on highways and interstates and afraid to even leave my house before a certain time.
Things like this and more were driving me crazy.
My doctor put me on an anti anxiety medication called Effexor XR and I have been fine ever since.
You might want to talk to you doctor about this. I've never had any side effects and it works great for me and has for several years now.
