Experience with Anti Anxiety Medication?

What anti anxiety medications are you taking?

Anxiety Question:

What anti anxiety medications are you taking and what has been your experience with them?

I am currently on Effexor XR and tapering off of Xanax for anxiety disorder.

I wanted to hear about other experience with these and other medications.

Anxiety Answer:

I was also on both anti anxiety medications.

I was unfortunate in that I became addicted to the Xanax after over two years. I was taking 5 1mg tab (the blue pill) a day and sometimes more.

I took 150mg of Effexor XR twice a day for over two years.

I quit taking both without medical help (not a good idea) but I am doing great without them. You are smart to taper off slowly. Withdrawal can be dangerous and it is very hard.
