ADD and Generalized Anxiety Disorder
Is it possible to have ADD and Generalized Anxiety Disorder?
Anxiety Question:
In my early 20's, I had a psychologist tell me I had ADD.
Then later on I had a psychiatrist tell me I had Generalize Anxiety Disorder.
I know I sometimes have trouble concentrating.
I also know I have some trouble with anxiety.
I would like to know so I can get the right help.
Anxiety Answer:
Yes, it is possible but also consider that your symptoms might have changed between the psychologist and the psychiatrist.
Also, one symptom of generalized anxiety disorder is difficulty concentrating.
Please consider meeting with another professional (counselor, psychiatrist, etc.) and discussing in detail what is going on to clarify a diagnosis (Any type of these mental health professionals can diagnose anxiety, ADD, and other DSM diagnoses).
Whoever you work with should be able to explain how you meet DSM criteria for a diagnosis - ADD, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, or anything else.
